GLIFAA Elections and Bylaws Changes

Along with all of our exciting June Pride events, this month is also the time when GLIFAA chooses its new leadership for the coming year. In addition this year, we are first considering an overhaul of GLIFAA's by-laws designed to make the organization more flexible and inclusive as we head into our third decade of existence. We need your voice and your participation to help us make these important changes and to staff our Board of Directors next year!

GLIFAA BY-LAWS AMENDMENTS

The GLIFAA Board has completed a revision of our by-laws designed to make GLIFAA more inclusive and flexible, as well as to incorporate best practices accumulated in the 20 years since the by-laws were originally written. So that the Board can hear from our members about these proposed changes before we submit the final version to a vote, the new by-laws are posted online. Please see the download link at the bottom of this post. Members are invited to review and comment on the proposal from today until Tuesday, June 19.

Starting Monday, June 25 and until Friday, June 29, all dues paying members of GLIFAA are invited to review and vote on the amendments to the by-laws. Further information will be sent to dues-paying members via email. We will announce the results immediately thereafter.

ELECTION PROCEDURES

The Board has fixed the following dates and procedures for this year's GLIFAA Election:

July 2: Announcement of Opening of Nominations for Candidates
Nominations may be made for any person meeting the necessary qualifications as stated in the by-laws and must be made by a member of GLIFAA. All nominations should be submitted via e-mail to votes@glifaa.org and include the position for which the nominee wishes to run, a brief biography and candidate's statement (approximately 250 words), and a confirmation that the nominee is willing to serve on the Board if elected. If you are interested in serving, but would like more information, please contact any member of the Board directly, or simply e-mail board@glifaa.org.

July 5: Closure of Nominations

July 9: Announcement of Candidates and Opening of Voting
Voting will be conducted via on-line survey, the address for which will be provided only to those reflected in our records as current on their annual dues. If you do not receive the list of candidates and voting link by COB on Monday, July 9, and you believe that you are current in your dues, please contact votes@glifaa.org.

PAY YOUR DUES

It is not too late to vote on the by-laws amendments or to participate in this year's elections! All members who pay dues before 11:59 p.m. on the day prior to the close of voting either on the by-laws or for the election will have an opportunity to vote. If you would like to pay your dues, you may do so via PayPal from www.glifaa.org. If you are unsure of your dues status, please e-mail votes@glifaa.org.
